Trump Says Iran Should Raise the White Flag, Tehran Fights Back Instead

US President Donald Trump continues to hurl verbal barbs at Iran. Dismissing Iran’s military capabilities, Trump stated that Tehran should raise the white flag in surrender but is too arrogant to do so. According to Trump, Iran’s military strength has been severely diminished, leaving it capable only of firing ‘toy weapons’. Tehran privately desires to make a deal, even as it publicly issues military threats. ‘They’re playing games, but let me tell you, they want to make a deal. And who wouldn’t, when your military is completely destroyed?’ he said on Tuesday. Trump praised the US blockade of Iranian ports in the region, describing it as highly effective. ‘It’s like a piece of steel. No one will challenge this blockade. And I think it’s going very well,’ he added. When asked what Iran needs to do to violate the ceasefire, Trump replied, ‘Well, you’ll find out, because I’ll tell you… They know what they shouldn’t do.’ Trump reiterated that Iran should raise the white flag as a sign of surrender. ‘If this were a battle, they would stop it,’ he said. Trump has repeatedly threatened and attacked Iran in various ways, yet Tehran remains steadfast and refuses to capitulate. Instead of surrendering, Iran has deployed its deadly tactic by blockading the Strait of Hormuz. This blockade has disrupted the flow of trade traffic, particularly oil, causing prices to skyrocket sharply. Trump previously conducted escort operations for commercial ships to pass through. However, Iran threatened to fire upon US military vessels and commercial ships attempting to transit. Once again, the operation was suspended. Many countries are reportedly concerned that such escorts would only exacerbate the situation.
