Trump says he will remain silent if Iran suspends peace talks with US
US President Donald Trump said he would remain silent if Iran suspends indirect peace talks with Washington. “I think we’ve talked too much already, if you want the truth. I think silence would be very good,” Trump told NBC News on Monday (1 June). Trump clarified that a pause in negotiations does not necessarily mean a resumption of direct attacks, but he stressed that the US blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place. The US, he said, would let Iran wait “for as long as they want” as Tehran is severely affected by the blockade. Trump’s remarks followed a report from Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency that Tehran had halted mediated peace talks in protest of Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
