Trump says a deal with Cuba could be reached soon
Washington (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump said a diplomatic deal with Cuba could be reached soon. ‘With Cuba? Yes, I think so. We’ll get it done. It won’t be hard for us to do it,’ Trump told reporters on Tuesday as he commented on the potential deal with Havana. The US leader then said Cuba’s current condition is very bad and in need of assistance. ‘Look, Cuba is a failed state. Cuba needs help,’ Trump said. Earlier, the news platform Semafor reported that the Trump administration was considering a military operation against Cuba, but only if all other options fail. Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reaffirmed full solidarity with Cuba, whose people are being harmed by unilateral restrictions. Lavrov referred to the expansion of illegal practices involving unilateral coercive measures, including illegitimate sanctions. On May 3, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted that the threat of military action by the United States against his country had reached an unprecedented level. Diaz-Canel warned that military aggression against Cuba would be met with the determination of the people to defend their sovereignty and independence. Source: Sputnik/RIA Novosti
