Trump Reveals US Stance Amid Israel-Iran Attacks
US President Donald Trump has stated that Israel will halt its attacks on Iran’s South Pars oil field. He also emphasised that the US is not involved in those attacks. “The United States knows nothing about Israel’s attack on the South Pars oil field,” Trump wrote in a statement on the Truth Social platform on Wednesday (18/3). Trump also commented on Iran’s retaliatory strike against Qatar’s gas facilities. According to him, Tehran has acted without clear justification. He stated that Iran has unfairly and without basis attacked the Ras Laffan gas facility in Qatar. “Qatar is not involved in it at all,” he said, quoted by CBS News on Thursday (19/3). Furthermore, Trump affirmed that there will be no more Israeli attacks on the South Pars oil field. However, he also issued a stern warning regarding the possibility of further escalation. “Unless Iran unwisely decides to attack the very innocent Qatar, in which case the United States, with or without assistance or approval from Israel, will blow up the entire South Pars Gas Field with force and power never before seen or witnessed by Iran,” he wrote. To date, Israel has not provided an official response to Trump’s statement. Israel has warned the US that its stock of ballistic missile interceptors is beginning to dwindle as the war with Iran enters its third week and attacks continue. Fourteen cargo planes full of military equipment arrived in Israel amid the increasingly heated conflict in the Middle East. Trump denies US involvement in the attack on Iran’s gas field, even as Israel claims coordination. The escalation of the conflict has triggered threats from Iran and a surge in global oil prices. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, strongly condemned Israel’s attack on one of Iran’s major gas facilities located on the coast of the Persian Gulf.
