US President Donald Trump has revealed plans to take control of Iran’s oil. He stated that this step is an option.

Quoted by AFP on Friday (27/3/2026), Trump presented this option while comparing it to the agreement Washington made with Venezuela after toppling Nicolas Maduro’s regime.

“It is an option,” Trump said to reporters during a cabinet meeting when asked if he wanted to take control of Iran’s oil.

Trump claimed that his administration had been very successful in taking over Venezuela’s oil reserves.

It is known that Trump is still eager to make a peace deal with Iran. Most recently, he seriously warned Iran to engage in talks in an effort to end the war.

Trump expressed this desire after Tehran openly rejected the US offer to resolve the war.

Quoted by AFP, Trump warned Iran to immediately seriously discuss negotiations to end the war “before it’s too late”. Trump’s warning emerged when Israel stated it had killed the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s navy, calling him “directly responsible” for the narrowing of the Strait of Hormuz since the outbreak of the war.
