Trump reveals meeting with Brazilian President went very well

Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump on Thursday (7/2) said that his meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva went “very well” and included discussions on trade and tariffs.

“I have just concluded my meeting with Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the very dynamic President of Brazil,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“We discussed many topics, including trade and, in particular, tariffs. The meeting went very well,” he added.

Representatives from both countries will hold additional meetings in the coming months to discuss important aspects of bilateral relations, Trump further stated.

As reported, the meeting between Brazilian President Lula and US President Donald Trump in Washington on Thursday (7/5) took place just five months before Brazil’s upcoming crucial presidential election.

Facing declining domestic popularity and polling nearly even with Flavio Bolsonaro—son of former leader Jair Bolsonaro—Lula’s visit aims to stabilise the turbulent relations with the Trump administration during the final stages of his campaign.

After the nearly three-hour meeting at the White House, Lula described the talks as a “very important step” to strengthen ties between the two countries.
