Trump Responds to Iran's Latest Peace Proposal: I Am Not Satisfied

Trump doubts Iran in accepting a peace agreement with the US. “At the moment, I am not satisfied with what they are offering,” said Trump. Trump accused there being divisions in the Iranian government. He mentioned there are two to four groups with differing views in Iran. “Its leadership is very divided,” said Trump. “There are two to three groups, perhaps four, and its leadership is very divided. And thus, they all want to make a deal, but they are all in chaos,” he continued. When asked about the US’s next steps, Trump said it would continue to prioritise negotiations. As is known, peace negotiations between Iran and the United States (US) had previously stalled. Iran has since sent a new proposal to resume further negotiations with the US. “The Islamic Republic of Iran submitted its latest negotiation proposal text to Pakistan, as mediator in talks with the United States, on Thursday evening,” stated the Iranian Republic News Agency, IRNA, as reported by AFP on Friday (1/5). On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone calls with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the content of the calls discussed “the Islamic Republic’s latest initiative to end the war.”
