US President Donald Trump has shared a video on his Truth Social social media platform. The reposted video features a TV comedy sketch showing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer terrified and hoping to avoid a phone call with the US leader. According to AFP on Monday (23/3/2026), the sketch, which premiered on British television in an adaptation of the long-running US show Saturday Night Live, depicts Starmer, played by George Fouracres, panicking inside 10 Downing Street at the prospect of a phone call with Trump. Starmer turns to a fake David Lammy, his deputy prime minister, and says, “What if Donald yells at me?” When Trump picks up the phone, Starmer immediately hangs up, asking why it is so difficult to speak with “that terrifying, terrifying, and extraordinary President”. “Sir, just be honest and tell him that we cannot send any more ships to the Strait of Hormuz,” says Lammy, with the Strait of Hormuz being a vital shipping route effectively blocked by Iran since the US-Israel attacks that initiated the Middle East war. “I just want to make him happy, Lammy. You don’t understand it like I do—I can change him,” says Starmer. Trump provided no comment alongside the video. The US leader has repeatedly criticised Starmer since the start of the war in the Middle East, accusing him of not doing enough to support the United States. “This is not the Winston Churchill we are dealing with,” said Trump earlier this month, after Starmer initially refused to allow US fighter jets to use bases in the UK to attack Iran. “I am disappointed with Keir,” said Trump, also condemning Starmer’s “big mistake”. “I like him, I think he is a good person, but I am disappointed.”
