US President Donald Trump reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw Israeli forces from Syria and Lebanon. The request was made during a phone call, according to a report by Axios citing US and Israeli officials.

Trump reportedly argued that the Israeli military presence in Syria was escalating tensions and could trigger a broader conflict. “They don’t want you there. You need to move the troops,” Trump was quoted as saying to Netanyahu.

The report noted that Netanyahu pushed back, insisting that Israel still requires a security zone along its borders to protect the country’s security interests. The difference in opinion emerged as the Trump administration seeks to foster regional stability through diplomatic means, including discussions on new security arrangements between Israel and Syria.

The phone call between Trump and Netanyahu took place a day after the US President met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the NATO Summit held in Turkey.
