Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump has been reluctant to respond to questions regarding the possibility that Iran has sent unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to a British base.

“I cannot tell you that, but if they do, then they will face very heavy consequences,” Trump told reporters.

On Sunday (27/9), five British nationals were arrested near Royal Air Force (RAF) Base Fairford over alleged violations of the Explosives Act. They were subsequently released on bail the following day.

Subsequently, on Thursday (1/10), a British-Iranian dual national was arrested in connection with the case but was also released on bail.

Last March, British authorities permitted the US to use the base for military operations against Iran. However, the UK has stated that US aircraft may only use the base for defensive operations.

In July, protests against US aggression were held in the area outside the base.
