Trump Promises $5,000 per Person If Republicans Win Election

United States President Donald Trump has promised to provide US$5,000 (approximately Rp 87 million) to every adult American citizen if the Republican Party maintains control of Congress in the mid-term elections to be held this coming November.

Trump made the pledge while attending the Republican Party convention for the mid-term elections in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday (09/09) local time. “If the Republican Party wins, you win with us and you get US$5,000. It will be called the Trump Dividend,” Trump told convention attendees, as reported by Reuters and AFP on Thursday (10/09/2026).

It remains unclear how such payments would be executed or whether the proposal is legal. With approximately 270 million adult Americans, the idea would cost around US$1.35 trillion.

During his speech, Trump claimed to have completed the “two best years in presidential history.”

“We are handing over America’s future to radical left-wing Democrats, and our nation will spend the next decade merely recovering,” he said. “Choose the Republicans and we will leave the world in our dust for future generations,” he added.

In his address, Trump asked his supporters to imagine him running in the upcoming November mid-term elections. Trump stated that he hopes to help the Republican Party retain control of both chambers of Congress, even though polls indicate the party faces fierce competition from the Democratic Party.

“I am asking you to pretend that I am on the ballot,” Trump said. “I am on the ballot, I am on the ballot – once again,” he remarked.

Polls show satisfaction levels regarding Trump’s performance are around 30 per cent. At the same time, US voters are increasingly dissatisfied with soaring commodity prices resulting from the war waged by the US against Iran.
