Trump Prepares New Attacks, Set to Unleash 'Disaster' on Iran
The United States has launched fresh military strikes against targets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) around the strategic waters of the Strait of Hormuz. This has triggered a series of new threats from President Donald Trump to destroy the nation.
According to Newsweek on Friday (4/9/2026), the US Central Command confirmed the military operations took place on Tuesday, coinciding with an escalation in the US economic pressure campaign. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously expressed ambitions to economically choke the Tehran regime to force them back to the negotiating table.
However, this statement was immediately refuted by Trump, who asserted that he is not attempting to force Iran into negotiations. The US leader believes he holds the upper hand regarding the position in the Strait of Hormuz.
“I do not care if they sign an agreement that is worthless to them. I much prefer our position now, with almost total control over the Strait of Hormuz, and their economy is truly collapsing,” he stated.
Trump instead issued a far more menacing threat via his social media platform. He warned that the US’s ultimate strike is currently being held in reserve and is ready to be launched if Tehran dares to retaliate.
“If the Iranian nation fails to retaliate against these highly justified attacks, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but that is not the largest of them all; it is waiting in the wings. When this is over, there will be little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!” he asserted.
In a separate interview, Trump also boasted that his military is deliberately playing with enemy forces by allowing Iran to almost finish rebuilding their radar systems before ultimately destroying them.
“I think a deal with them is not worth the paper it is written on. We gave them many opportunities,” he said.
Claims of Civilian Casualties & Retaliatory Fire
Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, reported massive explosions in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and Qeslam. The Deputy Governor of Hormozgan Province, Ahmad Nafisi, accused the US attacks of hitting a wedding party in Kuhestak village, killing five people, including a child, and injuring 68 others. In response, US Central Command strongly denied the allegations of targeting civilian facilities.
“We are aware of the reports, which originate from Iranian state media. The US military never targets civilians, unlike the IRGC,” the command stated.
This intense tension is an escalation from previous US attacks on rocket launcher facilities on Larak Island. Following this series of strikes, Iran launched ballistic missiles targeting a US base on the coast of Aqaba, Jordan, where 10 missiles were intercepted and three others landed in an empty area. Elsewhere, United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities also claimed to have shot down an Iranian drone. IRGC Spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi issued a retaliatory threat against Washington’s aggression.
“Severe punishment awaits the aggressors, and America will regret its new attacks,” he said.
On the other hand, the continuation of this war is increasingly straining US advanced ammunition supplies and has sent global crude oil prices soaring by 7 per cent within a week. The average price of regular petrol in the US has jumped to US$4.10 per gallon, a sharp increase from US$3.19 at the same time last year.
Responding to this instability, the US Department of State released new travel warnings across the Middle East on Tuesday, urging its citizens and various embassy facilities to increase extra vigilance against potential deadly retaliatory attacks that could occur without notice.
