Trump predicts war with Iran will end after mid-term elections
London (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday (13/9) that he expects the war with Iran to end this year, likely after the US mid-term elections scheduled for this November.
“This war will end right after the mid-term elections. Petrol prices will drop drastically,” Trump told reporters during a visit to Ireland.
“Iran is very eager to make a deal. They are calling constantly. They want to make a deal. They must make a proper deal. I will not make a bad deal,” he said.
On 18 June, the US and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the cessation of hostilities in the region.
Under the terms of the MoU, both parties were scheduled to hold negotiations within a 60-day period, ending on 17 August, to reach a final agreement.
However, the future of these negotiations remains uncertain following recent escalations in hostilities between the two nations.
