Trump: Peace Deal with Iran to Be Signed Thursday or Friday

US President Donald Trump has said a deal with Iran to end the war in the Middle East will be signed soon, but he could not confirm the exact date. “The deal we reached with Iran on Sunday will be signed soon, tomorrow (Thursday), maybe the day after (Friday),” Trump said at the G7 summit, following an earlier announcement that the agreement would be signed on Friday in Switzerland with Vice President JD Vance representing the United States, AFP reported on Thursday (18/6/2026). “We will most likely sign the deal,” he added. Trump told reporters at the final G7 press conference that he was prepared to “bomb the hell out of” Iran if they violated the agreement. “If they don’t behave, they’ll be hit again,” he said. But he added: “They don’t want to be bombed, they don’t want to be hit.” Trump said he “might” stay in Europe for the signing but added that as a memorandum of understanding “it might not be the kind of document I should sign.” When asked whether sending Vance to the signing event instead of going himself was intended to avoid blame if the deal fails, Trump replied: “I like that idea.” “If it works, I’ll take the credit; if it doesn’t work, I’ll blame JD! You’d better be careful, JD! He’ll turn his plane around and get out of here fast!” Following reports of tensions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said Washington “has sent a copy” of the deal to Israel.
