Trump Participates Indirectly in Dialogue with Iran
Moscow (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump has said he will participate indirectly in talks with Iran, which are set to take place in Geneva on Tuesday.
“So I will be involved in those talks indirectly, and it will be very important, and we’ll see what can happen,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday.
The second round of indirect negotiations on Iran’s nuclear issue was scheduled for 17 February in Geneva. The Iranian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, whilst the US delegation is headed by the president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Last week, Trump said a second US Navy aircraft carrier strike group would soon be deployed to the Middle East amid rising tensions surrounding Iran, emphasising that it would be needed if a deal with Tehran could not be reached.
Meanwhile, Araghchi insisted that Tehran has the right to enrich uranium, even if it leads to war.
