Trump Orders Israel to Halt Attacks on Iran's Energy Facilities
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — United States President Donald Trump on Thursday (19/3/2026) asked Israel to stop attacks on Iran’s oil and gas facilities. The request was conveyed directly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid escalating conflict that continues to intensify.
Trump stated that he had warned Netanyahu not to target Iran’s energy fields any further. He also emphasised that their relationship remains strong despite the tense situation.
“Yes, I have warned him (Netanyahu) not to do that, and he will not do it,” Trump said.
Trump added that the United States was unaware of Israel’s plans to attack Iran’s energy facilities beforehand. The statement came after reports of strikes on the South Pars gas field and the Asaluyeh industrial zone.
Reports indicate that a fire broke out in Asaluyeh after storage tanks and gas processing facilities were hit. South Pars is known as Iran’s largest gas field and forms the backbone of the country’s energy sector.
The conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has intensified since the end of February 2026. The ongoing attacks have caused major damage, civilian casualties, and prompted retaliatory strikes from Iran on Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East.
The United States and Israel describe these military operations as preventive measures against threats from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, both also express a desire to promote regime change in Iran.
