Trump Optimistic Iran Genuinely Seeks US Deal
Ankara (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that Iran wants to reach an agreement with Washington and expressed optimism that ongoing talks would yield positive results.
On Truth Social, Trump said Tehran “truly wants to make a deal” and described the potential agreement as “good for the US and our allies.”
He also criticised his political opponents and members of his own party for complicating diplomatic efforts through conflicting demands.
According to him, negotiations become “much more difficult” when political figures keep advocating different approaches, from speeding up or slowing down the process to supporting or opposing military action.
Trump labelled such criticism as “chirping” – a term he said has reached unprecedented levels.
He urged the public to be patient while negotiations continue.
“Just sit tight and stay calm, everything will end well in the end – it always does!” he said.
Middle East tensions escalated after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran in February. Tehran retaliated by striking targets in Israel and US allies in the Gulf region, as well as closing the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire came into effect on 8 April through Pakistan-mediated talks, but subsequent negotiations in Islamabad failed to produce a permanent agreement. Since then, both sides have continued exchanging proposals and counter-proposals in an effort to resume direct talks and end the conflict.
