Trump on US Independence Day: Communism is a Loser

United States President Donald Trump delivered a speech during the US Independence Day celebrations, taking a swipe at communism, which he considers a loser. Trump delivered the speech at the ‘Salute to America 250’ celebration at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Saturday (4/7/2026) local time. Initially, Trump asserted that the US would never become a communist country. ‘America will never be a communist country. It will not happen. Communism is a loser and always will be,’ Trump said, as reported by CNN. ‘The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system has never worked,’ he continued. According to Trump, American fighters have battled communism. He said this was done to prevent communism from emerging in the US. ‘Our fighters did not fight communism on battlefields around the world only to let that threat re-emerge here, in America,’ he said. Trump likened communism to a cancer. Therefore, he said, this ‘cancer’ must be cut out. ‘It’s like a cancer. You have to cut it out. You have to cut it out quickly,’ he said.
