The administration of US President Donald Trump has offered a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran to end the war. The ceasefire offer was conveyed by Washington to Tehran via Pakistan as an intermediary.

Information about the ceasefire offer, as reported by Reuters and Associated Press on Wednesday (25/3/2026), was first revealed by the leading US media outlet, the New York Times (NYT), citing two US officials familiar with the outline of Washington’s proposal.

The NYT reported that the US’s 15-point ceasefire offer has been delivered to Iranian officials via Pakistan. Islamabad itself has offered to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

The contents of the 15-point ceasefire plan have not yet been disclosed in detail to the public.

An Israeli television report from Channel 12, citing three sources, stated that the US is seeking a one-month ceasefire to discuss the 15-point plan.

Israeli media reports also indicated that the US ceasefire plan includes dismantling Iran’s nuclear programme, halting support for proxy groups, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

The US and Israel have been engaged in combat against Iran since 28 February, which began with large-scale joint strikes by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran. Iran retaliated with waves of missile and drone attacks on targets in Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet responded. The Associated Press noted that several Israeli officials, who had urged Trump to continue the war against Iran, were surprised by the US move to offer a ceasefire to Iran.

The White House has also not responded to the media reports.

However, recently, Trump discussed the possibility of a deal with Iran to end the war that has raged for the past four weeks. On Tuesday (24/3), Trump claimed that the US has made progress in efforts to negotiate an end to the war with Iran, including securing important concessions from Tehran.

Trump told reporters at the White House that the US is in dialogue with “the right people” in Iran to reach a deal to end the fighting. He added that Tehran is very eager to reach an agreement.

“We are in negotiations right now,” Trump stated.

Iran has denied that negotiations with the US are underway.
