Trump Now Begging Other Nations for Help Securing the Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump’s boast that American military forces could protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz from Iranian blockade has proven hollow. He is now increasingly demanding that other nations join efforts to secure this vital global oil supply route.
The US President has issued new statements on Truth Social building on his earlier comments about “many nations” sending warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. It should be noted that Iran’s restrictions on movement through the Strait of Hormuz represent retaliation against illegal US-Israeli attacks.
“Countries in the world that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz should take care of this route, and we will help greatly!” he wrote.
“The US will also coordinate with these countries so that everything proceeds quickly, smoothly, and well. This should always be a team effort. This will unite the World towards Harmony, Security, and Lasting Peace!”
Al Jazeera correspondents reported that Donald Trump appears to have developed the plan he posted on social media over several hours. He specifically named countries such as France, Japan, South Korea, Britain, and China—if they wish to consume oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz—must also maintain it.
Several hours after his initial Truth Social post, the US President appeared to double down on his statement by saying that countries receiving oil must “protect this route”. He also suggested this should be a team effort.
The fact that he is calling on other nations to help maintain the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed by Iran, demonstrates that this remains an ongoing risk.
This also represents a clever Iranian strategy that exposes American weakness. The United States has spent billions of dollars and deployed additional Marines alongside its military presence in the region, highlighting the dangers and risks the US faces in its efforts to protect its vessels.
