Trump-Netanyahu Tensions Rise as Pentagon Elevates Israeli Espionage Threat to Critical Level

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is reportedly increasingly concerned about the rise in reconnaissance activities conducted by Israel against the United States. According to statements from two US officials and one former official, the Pentagon has recently raised the counter-intelligence threat status of its primary Middle Eastern ally to its highest level.

The Pentagon’s Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has released a new counter-intelligence threat assessment in recent weeks amidst escalating tensions between Israel and the US regarding further steps in the war against Iran.

Officials stated that the DIA uploaded an internal message, which was viewed by an active official, raising Israel’s threat status to the ‘critical’ level, as reported by NBC News.

This designation stems from concerns within the Pentagon that Israel is undertaking specific efforts to monitor high-ranking US officials. This surveillance is allegedly aimed at obtaining information regarding the internal deliberations and decision-making processes of the Donald Trump administration concerning the conflict in the Middle East.

According to one active US official, the DIA assessment includes a seven-page document featuring a chart. The document states that Israel’s capabilities in both human espionage and technical data collection are at a ‘critical level’. The document also identifies a series of specific incidents that reinforce US concerns.
