Trump Mocks Communism During US Independence Day Speech
US President Donald Trump mocked communism during his speech commemorating US Independence Day. He also took the opportunity to boast about the strength of the US military.
Trump delivered the speech at the ‘Salute to America 250’ celebrations at the National Mall in Washington, DC, on Saturday (4/7/2026) local time. In his address, Trump asserted that the US would never become a communist nation.
“America will never become a communist country. It will not happen. Communism is a loser and always will be,” Trump stated, as reported by CNN on Sunday (5/lar/2026).
He stated that the communist system is the antithesis of the American system, asserting that communism is destined to fail.
“The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system never succeeds,” he said.
Trump noted that US fighters have fought against communism, stating that this was done to ensure communism does not resurface within the US.
“Our fighters did not fight communism on battlefields around the world just to let that threat emerge again here, in America,” he said.
Trump then likened communism to cancer, suggesting it must be excised.
“It is like cancer. You have to cut it out. You have to cut it out quickly,” he remarked.
Boasting of the US Military
Trump also expressed pride in the US military. He claimed that the US has dismantled the influence of nations ranging from Venezuela to Iran through its military might.
“Look at Venezuela, look at Iran. We have crushed them, crushed their militaries,” Trump said.
Trump remarked on the vast achievements of the nation, noting that the US has tamed the wilderness and constructed the Panama Canal.
“Americans crossed the Great Plains, climbed the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. We have just tamed the wilderness, conquered the frontiers, and built an empire,” he said.
“We built railways, erected beautiful skyscrapers, and dug the Panama Canal, which is considered the eighth wonder of the world,” he continued.
Trump stated that the US has also created the most powerful industry in the world, which he believes has made the US military more formidable than ever.
“This is the unstoppable spirit that created the most powerful industry in the world and built the strongest military ever. And today, our military is stronger and more powerful than ever before,” he concluded.
