Trump Leaves Beijing, Concluding Visit to China
Beijing (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump left Beijing on Friday afternoon, local time, concluding his state visit to China.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi saw Trump off at the airport.
Previously, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump held a private meeting at the Zhongnanhai leadership complex in downtown Beijing.
The meeting took place before Trump concluded his state visit to China and a day after the two leaders held formal talks.
Upon Trump’s arrival at Zhongnanhai, Xi warmly welcomed him. The two heads of state walked together and chatted, occasionally stopping to admire the trees and flowers in the garden.
Calling Trump’s visit a historic and important one, Xi said that both sides had established a new vision for building a constructive and strategically stable China-US relationship.
“We have reached important understandings on efforts to maintain stable economic and trade relations, expand practical cooperation in various fields, and properly handle issues of concern to each other,” Xi said.
According to Xi, both sides have also agreed to strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues. The visit was conducive to enhancing mutual understanding, deepening mutual trust, and improving the well-being of the people of both countries, he added.
Meanwhile, Trump said he was very grateful to Xi for inviting him to Zhongnanhai, and said his visit to China was very successful, attracting world attention, and unforgettable.
Trump said that both sides had reached a number of important common understandings, signed a number of agreements, and resolved many issues, which were very beneficial to both countries and the world.
Calling Xi an old friend, Trump said he greatly respected Xi and that they had established a good relationship. The US-China relationship is very important and will certainly become better, Trump said.
