Trump Issues New Threat to Iran: Entire Civilisation Will Perish Tonight

US President Donald Trump has issued his latest threat against Iran. This threat was made by Trump ahead of the deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which was closed due to the war initiated by Trump and Israel. “The entire civilisation will die tonight, and it will never be able to be revived,” Trump stated in a post on his Truth Social platform, as reported by Al Jazeera on Tuesday (7/4/2026). In a subsequent post, he claimed he did not want that to happen. He asserted that he wants a regime change in Iran. “I don’t want that to happen, but it might happen. However, now we have a complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and non-radical minds (that) are in power, something revolutionary and extraordinary might happen,” he said. “WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran!” he wrote. Previously, Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. If Iran does not comply, Trump said, Washington will “destroy” various Iranian power plants. Here is his full statement: “If Iran does not FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz within 48 HOURS from now, the United States will attack and destroy various of their POWER PLANTS, STARTING FROM THE LARGEST!” That post was published on 21 March. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil trade, was closed by Iran because of the US and Israel attacking Iran on 28 February. Trump then became angry because Iran closed the strait and invited various countries to help the US. That invitation has so far not been heeded by US allies.
