Trump Irked as Netanyahu Blabs About Iran's Pickaxe Mountain

US President Donald Trump has openly criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The criticism was levelled before Trump held talks with Netanyahu at the White House, which he later described as successful. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said Netanyahu should have discussed concerns about Iran’s underground nuclear facility, Pickaxe Mountain, with him privately rather than raising the issue in public. “I heard Bibi announce it. I said, ‘Why didn’t you tell me directly? Why do you have to announce it to the world?’” the US President said. Trump argued that Netanyahu highlighted the nuclear facility because he wanted to persuade the US to remain engaged in a conflict with Iran. “No, I don’t need Bibi to tell me about it. Bibi said that because he wants me to stay involved,” he stated, adding that Washington was fully aware of developments at the facility and understood “precisely what is happening”. Trump stressed that although his military had “destroyed most” of Iran’s military infrastructure, the facility at Pickaxe Mountain had become a target. “We have to take out Pickaxe if we don’t reach a deal… we will take it out very easily,” he said. Trump and Netanyahu held talks at the White House on Tuesday local time. On the same day, Trump also met separately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Following the meetings with both leaders, Trump said the talks went “very well”. Regarding the meeting with Netanyahu specifically, Trump described it as a success. “Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel, together with me and members of Congress, had a very good meeting! Of course, many important topics were discussed,” the US President said.
