US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran could be destroyed “in just one night”. He has also demanded that Tehran make a deal no later than today, or face escalation of attacks from the US.

It is known that Trump has given Iran a deadline until Tuesday night (7/4) to agree to a ceasefire deal. Trump has also asked Iran to stop its nuclear weapons programme while reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which is so vital for the world’s oil routes.

If those demands are not responded to, the 79-year-old president has threatened to carry out massive attacks against power plants as well as other important Iranian infrastructure.

“The entire country can be destroyed in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night,” Trump said in a White House press conference, as reported by AFP news agency via detikNews on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

“I hope I don’t have to do it,” Trump added.

Critics have warned that Trump could be accused of war crimes if he attacks civilian power plants. Trump denied this and claimed he is not worried.

“I’m not worried about that. Do you know what a war crime is? Having nuclear weapons,” Trump said on Monday (6/4) local time.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said that the largest volume of attacks since the first day of operations against Iran would occur on Monday, and warned that Tuesday would see even more attacks.
