Trump Insists Iran Will Allow IAEA Nuclear Inspectors
Washington - US President Donald Trump on Tuesday insisted that Iran will allow nuclear inspectors into the country despite Tehran’s denial. Trump said the nuclear inspectors would be on the ground ‘at the appropriate time.’ Speaking to reporters, Trump dismissed Iran’s claim that no visit is scheduled for inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), despite US Vice President JD Vance previously announcing that Iran had agreed to allow nuclear inspectors back into the country. ‘They’re wrong. They’re wrong. They know they’re wrong,’ Trump said. ‘They’ve told us internally and we are 100 per cent confident there will be inspections.’ ‘If they were right, I would cancel those meetings right now,’ he added. When asked when the inspectors would be allowed into Iran, Trump replied, ‘At the appropriate time. There’s no rush.’ ‘We’re making a fantastic deal with Iran. We’re making a deal that will keep our country and the world safe, because we will not let Iran have a nuclear weapon, and they know that, and they agree with that,’ Trump said. Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that Iran had agreed to allow nuclear inspectors back into the country. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied making any new commitments regarding its nuclear programme or international inspections. Separately, in a speech in Pennsylvania, Trump reiterated that Iran had agreed to ‘never have a nuclear weapon.’ ‘We left them with no nuclear capability whatsoever, and they’ve agreed to that. Our relationship is also going quite well. Although, if you read the fake news media, you’d never know it,’ Trump said. ‘We just reached a historic peace deal with Iran to end the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.’ Trump also claimed that a record 19 million barrels of oil transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
