Trump Increasingly Irritated, Threatens to Leave Netanyahu Alone
US President Donald Trump has threatened to leave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to face future conflicts alone if Israel persists in its war against Iran. Trump has expressed growing frustration with Israel’s aggressive stance. “I said, ‘Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be alone soon’,” Trump stated, using Netanyahu’s nickname, as reported by Israeli local media and Al Arabiya on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
The prominent US media outlet Axios, via Reuters, also reported similar warnings from Trump to Netanyahu. Citing US official sources, Axios noted that Trump warned Netanyahu that Israel would have to fight alone if it engages in renewed warfare against Iran.
Trump’s warning comes at a time when Israel and Iran have ceased mutual attacks following the most serious escalation since the ceasefire in early April, even as indirect negotiations for a peace agreement continue. Trump, who is reportedly increasingly irritated with Netanyahu, previously demanded that Israel and Iran stop ‘shooting’ in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. He also remarked that ‘final negotiations’ towards peace would proceed ‘notwithstanding the ignorance and stupidity hindering them’.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated further on Sunday (7/6), triggered by a lethal Israeli bombing in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Iran, which has long maintained that a peace deal with the US depends partly on halting hostilities in Lebanon, responded with a wave of missile attacks against northern Israel. Trump reportedly called Netanyahu on Sunday night, requesting that he refrain from retaliating against the missile strikes. However, Israel proceeded with attacks against Iran on Monday (8/6) morning local time.
