Trump Gives Iran 15-Day Deadline Before Taking Further Action
United States President Donald Trump has given Iran a maximum of 15 days to reach an agreement on its nuclear programme, warning that adverse consequences would follow if no deal is struck within that timeframe.
"We will reach a deal or it will be something very unfavourable for them," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, as reported by AFP on Friday (20/2/2026).
When asked about the timeline, Trump said, "I think that will be enough time, 10 to 15 days, at most."
Trump also noted that reaching an agreement with Iran has proven difficult. He warned that bad things would happen if no deal is ultimately reached.
"It has been proven over many years that it is not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We must make a meaningful deal, otherwise bad things will happen," Trump said at the inaugural meeting of the "Peace Council," his initiative to secure stability in Gaza.
At the event in Washington, he cautioned that the United States may have to take further steps in the absence of a deal. "You will find out in the next 10 days," he added.
