Trump demands nations that do not support the US still pay for Hormuz 'security'
Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump has said that countries which do not support the United States in the situation concerning the Strait of Hormuz should still have to pay compensation.
“Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. The countries of the world, which are doing absolutely nothing to help us, should, and will, pay compensation to the United States when this treacherous conflict ends,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched joint strikes against a number of targets in Iran, prompting retaliatory attacks from Iran.
The conflict remains unresolved to this day. Its escalation has brought shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to a virtual standstill.
The strait is the main supply route for the global market in oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas (LNG). As a result, fuel prices have risen in most countries around the world.
