Trump Demands Iran Pay Compensation for 50 Years of 'Atrocities'

US President Donald Trump on Monday lodged a counterclaim for financial compensation from Tehran, citing what he alleged were decades of Iranian military activity and internal repression.

“I… demand compensation from Iran, for all the people they have killed and severely injured with their roadside bombs,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He specified that the payments should go to the families of those killed in the attack on the USS Cole in 2000, as well as thousands of other casualties in battle.

Trump also demanded compensation for what he called “hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters” killed at the hands of the Iranian government over the past 50 years.

In a subsequent post, Trump stated that Tehran must “be held accountable for the damage and death suffered by the people of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Gaza.”

The ultimatum came following reports that Iranian representatives were seeking reparations related to the five-month regional war initiated by the US and Israel on 28 February.

Trump dismissed the claim, asserting that compensation payments for Iran were “never discussed” in negotiations.

He confirmed that he had instructed US representatives to include these demands in all future talks.
