Trump Delays Attack on Iran Following Requests from Qatar and Others

According to Al Jazeera on Tuesday (19/05/2026), Trump stated that Gulf leaders have engaged in serious negotiations. Trump noted that these negotiations would be acceptable to the United States.

“That serious negotiations are underway, and that, in their opinion, as Great Leaders and Allies, a Deal will be made, which will be highly acceptable to the United States, as well as all Countries in the Middle East and surrounding areas,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

“This deal will include, most importantly, NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN!” he added.

Trump stated that he has instructed his administration not to carry out an attack on Iran this Tuesday. However, he noted that his forces will remain prepared should an attack become necessary.

“Based on my respect for the aforementioned Leaders, I have instructed the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel Caine, and the United States Military, that we will NOT conduct a scheduled attack on Iran tomorrow (Tuesday), but have further instructed them to be prepared to launch a large-scale attack on Iran, at any time, if an acceptable deal is not reached,” he said.
