Trump considers reducing US troops in Germany following criticism from Merz

Washington (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump has stated that his administration is considering reducing troops in Germany following criticism from Chancellor Friedrich Merz towards US operations in Iran. Trump, via the Truth Social platform, indicated that a decision on the potential troop reduction will be made in the near future. Previously, while speaking to students in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on Monday (27/4), Merz said that Western countries have underestimated Iran in the Middle East conflict. He also warned that the United States risks becoming trapped in a prolonged confrontation in the region and assessed that Iran is more effective in the negotiation process. Trump had previously levelled sharp criticism at Merz regarding his views on Iran and nuclear weapons, calling the German chancellor as not understanding what he was talking about.
