Trump considers reducing US troops in at least three European countries
Washington (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump has stated that he may reduce the US military presence in Spain and Italy, a day after announcing that his administration is assessing the possibility of troop reductions in Germany. “Yes, it might be that way,” Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about the possibility of such reductions on Thursday (30/4). “Why not? Italy is not helping at all. Spain is very bad. Of course,” Trump said, once again criticising European allies for not assisting in the US-Israel war against Iran. Trump again criticised German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, claiming that Merz “is doing a bad job.” Earlier this week, Merz stated that the US “is being humiliated” by Iran. In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday (29/4), Trump revealed that the US is considering the possibility of troop reductions in Germany, and the decision will be made with careful consideration “in the near future.” On Wednesday, Merz sought to calm his spat with Trump, stating that his personal relationship with the US president remains good, while calling for the Iran conflict to be resolved quickly, given that Germany and Europe are suffering greatly from the impacts caused.
