Trump Considers Declassifying 9/11 Documents Regarding Alleged Saudi Arabian Involvement

US President Donald Trump has stated that he will follow up on requests from the families of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack victims to release more documents, which could provide clarity regarding the alleged role of Saudi Arabia in the attacks.

Several families of the victims have long suspected that a group of religious leaders in Saudi Arabia held influence within the Saudi government and assisted the hijackers during the 9/11 attacks. It is known that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals, though the Saudi government has long denied any involvement in the attacks.

The victims’ families have requested that Trump release more documents related to the attacks. When questioned about the matter on Sunday (13/9) local time during his visit to Ireland, Trump stated that he would consider the request.

“I will look into it when I return,” Trump said shortly before boarding Air Force One to return to Washington after his weekend in Ireland. “I know they asked me last Friday,” he added, as reported by AFP news agency on Monday (14/9/2026).

The 9/11 victims’ families have been involved in a long legal battle against Saudi Arabia. One of them, Terry Strada, called upon Trump during a 9/11 memorial event last Friday in New York City to “tell Saudi Arabia to stop lying.”

Strada, who lost her husband in the 9/11 attacks, claimed that the Trumps have historically chosen “to protect Saudi Arabia rather than side with the 9/11 victims’ families.”

“It is one betrayal after another,” she said. “President Trump can still change this,” she added.

The request has also gained support from several Republican and Democratic members of Congress. They have called on the Trump administration to release various telephone records related to the 9/11 attacks.

US Republican Representative Nicole Malliotakis stated that the release of these documents could serve as a vital opportunity to provide information to the public.
