Trump Complains About Iran, Threatens to Sue Media and Calls Them Unpatriotic
US President Donald Trump has threatened several media organisations with accusations of treason over their coverage of the conflict between Washington and Iran.
In a lengthy post on the Truth Social platform on Sunday, 15 March 2026, Trump accused media outlets of spreading false information that he characterises as propaganda created by Iran using artificial intelligence technology.
“In fact, Iran is being destroyed, and the only battle they ‘won’ is the one they created through AI and spread by the Corrupt Media,” Trump wrote in his post, as cited by RT.
Trump argued that various media reports contained incorrect footage and images regarding attacks on US military assets. He accused Tehran of circulating AI-generated visuals to portray Iran as if it had successfully attacked various US military targets.
Some of the images in question, according to Trump, depict kamikaze vessels he claims never existed and the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) depicted as burning. Trump asserted that these images constitute manipulated propaganda using AI to make Iran appear to have achieved military successes.
He also stated that only one US aircraft had suffered damage and been unable to operate since the escalation of the conflict on 28 February.
Trump subsequently launched harsh criticism at media organisations publishing those reports. He referred to them as “extremely unpatriotic” organisations and accused them of deliberately spreading false information.
“Corrupt and extremely unpatriotic ‘news’ organisations should be prosecuted with charges of TREASON for the deliberate spread of FALSE information,” he wrote.
The conflict escalated after the US and Israel launched coordinated strikes against Iran in late February, which subsequently triggered retaliatory attacks by Tehran across various regions.
Multiple reports suggest that more than ten US military aircraft suffered damage or were destroyed in the series of escalations. The damage reportedly includes fuel tankers damaged in Saudi Arabia, fighter jets reported missing due to friendly fire incidents, several drones shot down, and a fuel tanker accident in Iraq.
Additionally, several military bases in the region were reported to have sustained damage.
