Istanbul - US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (21/4) that Washington is taking advantage of the ceasefire with Iran to replenish its weapons stockpiles, while claiming that Tehran is likely doing the same and attempting to relocate missiles.

In an interview with CNBC, Trump stated that he is “ready to act” to continue attacks if the prospect of reaching an agreement fails to materialise. He also expressed confidence that both sides will ultimately reach a “big deal”, which he believes will surpass the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Trump also claimed that the Iranian-flagged cargo ship TOUSKA, seized by US forces on Sunday after refusing to comply with blockade instructions, was carrying something he described as a “gift from China”.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the ship remains under US control following the interception by US military. China has yet to respond to the claim.

Regarding the possibility of a currency arrangement with the United Arab Emirates, Trump said the exchange scheme is “under consideration” and referred to the Gulf state as a “good country”.

Trump described the two-week ceasefire, which ends on Wednesday (22/4) night Washington time, as having been violated “multiple times” by Iran. He had previously stated that extending the ceasefire is “very unlikely” without an agreement beforehand.

US Vice President J.D. Vance, along with envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is scheduled to travel to Islamabad for a new round of negotiations. Iran has not yet confirmed official participation in the new round of talks and demands the lifting of the US naval blockade as a prerequisite.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the attack he ordered on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025 “completely crippled the Nuclear Dust site to the point that bloodthirsty Iran is unable to access or re-dig the facility.”

“Space Force has cameras on every inch of the three sites that were hit very effectively last June,” he said.
