Trump claims US received 80 million barrels of oil from Venezuela
Washington - US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the United States has received more than 80 million barrels of oil from Venezuela since the US forcibly seized control from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
“We have just received from our new friend and partner, Venezuela, more than 80 million barrels of oil,” Trump said during his first State of the Union address since beginning his second term at the White House.
“US oil production has increased by more than 600,000 barrels per day,” he added.
The US took control of Venezuelan oil exports following a military operation that apprehended Maduro in January, who now faces charges of drug trafficking and other crimes in a court in New York.
