Trump Claims US Military Operation Against Iran Could Last Four Weeks
A brutal and deadly assault by Israel and the United States against Iran on Saturday 28 February sent shockwaves through the world.
US President Donald Trump stated that military operations against Iran could take up to four weeks. “The process always takes four weeks. We estimate it will take around four weeks,” he told British newspaper The Daily Mail in a recent interview. “However strong this country is, it is a large nation that will require four weeks – or less,” Trump said.
Trump told the newspaper that he remains open to further talks with Iran, but did not indicate whether this would happen “soon”. “I don’t know. They want to talk, but I said ‘you should have talked last week, not this week’.”
Trump has also warned that combat operations against Iran will continue until “all objectives are achieved”. He confirmed in a video posted on Truth Social that three US soldiers have been killed and suggested there would likely be additional American casualties.
Nine people were reported killed and 40 others injured in clashes between police and protesters at the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated agreement with the US on Iran’s nuclear programme, whilst warning of the risk of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Trump has agreed to speak with Iran’s new leadership. Tehran is open to serious efforts to reduce tensions, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
