Trump claims US has almost complete control over Strait of Hormuz
Washington (ANTARA) - President Donald Trump has stated that the United States possesses almost complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that oil shipments through this strategic waterway have surged to an all-time high in recent days.
“We have almost complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. In fact, over the last three days, more oil has flowed through the Strait of Hormuz than at any other time in its history,” Trump said on Wednesday (30/9) during a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.
The US President reaffirmed his stance that the Iranian military has been totally decimated and stated that the war would be won shortly.
“We will win that war very quickly, by any means necessary,” he remarked.
In February, the US and Israel launched a war against Iran. Tehran responded by launching attacks against Israel and US targets in the region before a ceasefire agreement was reached in April.
Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June regarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Orumuz. However, its implementation has stalled due to disagreements concerning security issues within the strategic waterway.
