Trump Claims US Begins to Control Strait of Hormuz
Istanbul - US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States has begun taking steps to seize control of the Strait of Hormuz in the war against Iran. When asked in an interview on Sunday (29/3) with Israel’s Channel 14 whether the US is capable of taking over control of the strategic shipping route, he replied, “Yes, of course. It’s already happening.” Trump also highlighted close coordination with Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran. “Our coordination is very close. We have a good relationship. It couldn’t be better,” he said. He added that he believes Iran very much wants a deal. “I think they really want to do it. Anyone would want a deal if they are being destroyed, wouldn’t they?” he said. The US and Israel have conducted airstrikes against Iran since 28 February, which killed more than 1,340 people, including the then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes on Israel as well as several areas hosting US military assets in Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries.
