Trump Claims New Deal with Iran is Far Better than Nuclear Pact
US President Donald Trump claims that the deal currently being negotiated with Iran will be far better than the previous nuclear pact, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed during the era of US President Barack Obama in 2015.
“THE DEAL we are making with Iran will be FAR BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly known as the ‘Iran Nuclear Deal’,” Trump wrote in his latest statement via the social media platform Truth Social, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Trump condemned the JCPOA as “one of the worst deals” ever made regarding US security.
He even described the JCPOA agreement as a “sure path to nuclear weapons” for Iran. Trump emphasised that such a scenario would not occur under his administration.
Trump claims that his decision in 2018 to withdraw the US from the JCPOA prevented the use of nuclear weapons against Middle Eastern countries, Israel, and US military bases in the Middle East.
“If the deal happens under ‘TRUMP’, it will guarantee peace, security, and safety, not only for Israel and the Middle East, but also for Europe, America, and everywhere,” he asserted.
“It will be something the whole world can be proud of, instead of the years of shame and humiliation we were forced to endure due to incompetent and cowardly leadership!” he stated.
The statement was issued ahead of potential follow-up negotiations between the US and Iran in Pakistan, after previous talks ended without any agreement.
Trump announced on Sunday (19/4) that US representatives would fly to Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, for negotiations. Tehran has not yet officially confirmed its participation and is demanding the lifting of the naval blockade by Washington.
In a separate statement via Truth Social, Trump said he is “under absolutely no pressure” to reach a deal with Iran. However, he claimed that the US blockade is “completely destroying Iran” and reaffirmed that the naval blockade will not be lifted until a deal is reached.
