Trump Claims Iranian Officials Phoned Him Pleading for Attacks to Stop

United States President Donald Trump has claimed that senior Iranian officials telephoned him after the US attacked Iran, begging for the strikes to be halted. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that the US bombing of Iran would stop soon, but warned that it would continue tomorrow night if an agreement was not reached. Fox correspondent Trey Yingst said he spoke with Trump while in the Situation Room with Vice President JD Vance and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Trump told Fox that this was the ‘most violated ceasefire in world history’. The US had previously launched strikes against Iran, with explosions heard near the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported blasts in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, on Qeshm Island, and in the towns of Minab and Sirik. Iranian sources reported enemy projectile attacks in Qeshm and the towns of Kargan and Sirik. Iran retaliated by striking the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain. Air raid warnings were issued in Bahrain, with the interior ministry urging citizens to ‘remain calm and head to the nearest safe place’.
