New York (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Iran has repeatedly rejected deal proposals submitted by the United States.

“Once again, I am urging Iran to make a deal. And once again, they refuse,” Trump said from the podium of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Nevertheless, Trump expressed his belief that the United States and Iran will reach a peace agreement immediately following the upcoming midterm elections.

“I am confident we will reach a deal right after the election because it makes no sense for them (Iran) not to do so,” he said.

The United States midterm elections are scheduled to be held on 3 November.

Furthermore, Trump also stated that he would never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.

“Since my first day entering the political arena, I have never wavered. I will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons,” he said.

Additionally, he claimed that global oil prices would soon drop to levels seen before the conflict with Iran began.

“We will soon see a world free from the threat of Iranian terror that has persisted for the last 51 years, and oil prices will plummet even lower than when the conflict began,” he claimed.
