Trump Claims Iran Agrees to Proposal Banning Nuclear Weapons
According to CNN, Trump stated there is no “deadline” for when he expects a response from Tehran regarding the US proposal to end the war. “We are in a good position,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday (6/5/2026). “Now we are walking well, and we must get what we really need to get. If not, we must step much bigger. But with all that, they want to make a deal,” he said. “It is very likely that we will reach a deal,” he added. When asked if there was a deadline for receiving an answer from Iran regarding the latest US proposal, Trump signalled that the timing is open. “There has never been a deadline; it will happen. It will happen, but there has never been a deadline,” he said. Trump also reiterated his claim that Iran has agreed to his main demand, namely not to have nuclear weapons. “Iran must not have nuclear weapons, and they will not have them, and they have agreed to that, among other things,” the president said, although to date there has been no clear indication of what Iran has or has not agreed to.
