President Donald Trump has said that Iran has completely and thoroughly agreed to allow nuclear inspectors back into the country. In his remarks, Trump also stated that US Navy forces would no longer blockade the Strait of Hormuz.

According to AFP on Tuesday (23/6/2026), Washington has been negotiating with Tehran on critical issues such as the fate of the Islamic republic’s nuclear programme, following an agreement signed by both countries aimed at ending the war in the Middle East.

Trump said the negotiations — technical talks between Iran and the United States held in recent days in Switzerland — were “going well.”

“Iran has fully and thoroughly agreed to top-level nuclear inspections for a long period into the future (indefinitely!!!). This will ensure ‘Nuclear Honesty’,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Based on this and other major concessions made by Iran, I have agreed to allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open, without further naval blockade,” he added.

“However, all ships remain in place if needed to reimpose the blockade, which, at this point, seems highly unlikely.”

Transit through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for oil and gas exports, has been a major point of contention during the Middle East war, which has shaken the global economy.

While the Hormuz talks are an important component, the broader nuclear issue remains the primary concern, and Trump’s claim that Iran has fully agreed to nuclear inspections appears to align with recent comments from Tehran.

Shortly before the post on Tuesday (23/6), Iran stated that the UN nuclear watchdog would not be able to inspect key nuclear sites bombed by US and Israeli forces last year.
