Trump claims he is Iran's number one assassination target

Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that he is likely Iran’s number one assassination target.

“They had their leaders, but they are gone… They had another line of leaders. They too could be gone. Who knows?” Trump said during a press conference in Ankara. “I could be gone as well, because I am their number one target.”

Trump added that he does not care about being targeted for assassination by Iran, as he is simply doing his job.

Trump also said the chances of him being killed stand at 5.2 percent.

“A president’s life is very dangerous, with a risk of 5.2 percent. Compare that with a racing driver or a bull rider, whose risk is only one-tenth of 1 percent. For a president, a 5.2 percent figure means your survival is under threat,” Trump said.

Trump has survived three assassination attempts, the first of which occurred during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024, when Trump was shot in the ear.

The second attempt took place in September of that year at Trump’s golf club in Florida. Finally, in April 2026, a shooting occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner attended by Trump.

The suspect was subsequently charged with several counts, including attempted assassination of the US president.

Later, in June 2026, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation reported the discovery of a plot targeting a UFC event at the White House. The US Department of Justice subsequently classified the plot as a fresh assassination attempt against Trump.
