Trump claims agreement reached for Hamas disarmament in Gaza
Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump claimed via social media on Thursday (30/7) that the US-established Peace Council has reached an agreement for the ‘full disarmament’ of Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza. ‘The agreement is a crucial step towards Gaza finally being led by a new Palestinian administration, which will work closely with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people,’ Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform. ‘At the same time, Israel will obtain the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer being used as a base for terror attacks,’ he added. According to Trump, the agreement will be implemented in a number of structured stages. Once the disarmament process is complete, Israeli forces will withdraw, while the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) will work alongside the new Palestinian police to take over security responsibilities in Gaza. Trump also stated that Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye assisted in facilitating the deal as mediators. To date, Hamas has not confirmed the agreement.
