Trump Calls MBS a Bootlicker at Saudi Investors Forum
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MIAMI – US President Donald Trump was recorded making a belittling comment towards Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). He made this statement amid the support that Saudi Arabia has provided to America in recent times.
In a recording broadcast by the US public broadcasting institution C-SPAN, Trump made the remark during his speech at the Saudi Investors Forum in Miami on 27 March.
In his speech, Trump repeated various achievements during his presidency. He then lavished praise on Crown Prince MBS, who is currently Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader.
“He has about 700 titles and I said he has more titles than any human being. He deserves them because he is a winner.”
However great MBS is, Trump said he now has to bootlick the US. “He didn’t expect this to happen. He didn’t expect that now he has to kiss my arse. He thought I was like other American presidents who are losers in a country that’s falling apart,” Trump said, using an English term describing a sycophant.
With the current situation, Trump implied that MBS has no choice but to get along well with the US. “Attack must get along well with me. Tell him now he has to get along well with me,” Trump said, accompanied by laughter from forum participants.
In the speech, he also claimed that several Gulf countries would join the normalisation scheme with Israel following the recent attack on Iran. “I said ‘Muhammad… we have beaten them (Iran) and now we must realise the Abraham Accords,’” Trump stated.
The Abraham Accords were initiated by Trump during his first term in 2020. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, then Morocco and Sudan joined the normalisation agreement with Israel in exchange for US military aid.
