Trump Bans CNN and Two Other Media Outlets from the White House

Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Friday (18/9) that CNN, MS NOW (formerly known as MSNBC), and Politico are banned from entering the White House, and that this ban is “effective immediately,” citing what he claimed to be fake news in a post on Truth Social.

Trump accused the three media outlets of repeatedly publishing what he described as false reports or fabricated results regarding himself, his administration, and the United States, and warned that other media organisations could face similar restrictions.

“The media must not continuously write or report FICTION and LIES when they cover the US President, the Trump Administration, or the United States,” Trump said, adding that “Other Fake News Spreading Media” would follow.

Since the beginning of Trump’s second term, his relationship with US news media has remained tense. Trump frequently criticises the media for what he calls “fake news” and has taken legal action against several media organisations.

In February 2025, reporters from The Associated Press (AP) were banned from accessing the White House Oval Office, Mar-a-Lago, and Air Force One after AP refused to use the name “American Gulf” for the Gulf of Mexico, a name changed by the Trump administration.

Trump has also filed lawsuits against several media organisations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CBS, accusing them of defamation or misleading reporting.
